Cordillera Coffee: a review
Last Sunday afternoon, good friend Leo texted us and invited us for a simple get-together for the night. We agreed to meet at SM at 7:30PM, where he would like to treat us at Cordillera Coffee. Hey, that's a new place. At least for us. And who wouldn't want free coffee?
It turns out that Leo was enticed by the shop's marketing scheme of having this set of coupons that you can redeem for discounts and freebies. So rather than using it by his lonesome, he's invited us along.
As we walked beside SM in the cold evening, Leo revealed that he has actually been to Cordillera Coffee before and unfortunately the service was not so good. He was hoping it will be better the second time around.

The place had nice sets of wooden chairs and tables that exuded an air of native ambience. It would have been a nice setup, but the huge number print-outs taped onto the tables does not match the decor.
We ordered pasta. I had this Ilocano pasta, to which my wife wondered how it would taste like. "Salty, I guess." And it was. But too salty for me, unfortunately.
Inside is a painting gallery depicting local folk.
So how was the service, you may ask? Well... our food arrived on time, but there were mix-ups with our drinks. And then I asked for my fork a couple of times, we asked for water about 4 times, we kept asking for our bill until we grew tired of following it up and trooped to the counter instead to pay. The seats were only 40% occupied at that time. Just imagine how it will be during peak hours! Our consolation: the cool evening air, strong coffee, and free Wi-Fi.

i love the kalinga and amandine coffee that Cordillera Coffee serves....am not a fan of their cakes and pasta though....i find it too dry kasi...i like the paintings there as well...as for the service...well...medyo mabagal lang talaga...at least they champion in this Coffee AID(Assiting Indigenous Development) project...they help our local coffee growers in the Cordi kasi eh...hehehe
Mojo: Uy thanks for visiting my blog! It's really quite a nice place. But they have to improve their service. Nevertheless, we will be back and sample the other coffee varieties. And hopefully the next review will be better.
O my gad! What's wrong with having discreet table numbers????
sobra sarap ng foods nila especially yung spicy chicken oriental...panit lang ang service nila...magseserve ng food d pa kasama spoon and fork...halos ubos mo na ung pagkain using the hand saka ka pa lang mabibigyan ng spoon and fork...sana ok na ung food sana ung service nila ayusin naman nila...bka hindi cla tumagal kapag mabagal sila...excellent in food but very poor ung service...nakakahigh blood...Cordillera Coffee SM Baguio hello, gising.....HOY GISING....
excellent in food worst service, they are not just very poor, the poorest service i have experience in my life...over sa pangit ng service...magseserve ng food d pa kasama spoon and fork...you can request to them approximately 4-5 times or cguro almost paubos na ung food mo sa table using the hand b4 ka bigyan ng spoon and fork...SM Baguio Cordillera Coffee GISING...HOY GISING KAYO...
nashman: nothing... it's about aesthetics po...
janjaraan: Well, hopefully their service does get better. Mojo Potato shared a worthy endeavour this coffee shop is doing and hopefully it prospers.
The service in cordillera coffee is one of the worst!! When i got to the counter to the order, instead of greeting me, the counter rather checked his cellphone for any messages. tsk.. tsk.. It is people that will make you famous. No matter how good your product is, if you have the worst people, its useless. And how can you get the best in the industry? Pay them more.. =)
just got back from baguio and i thought nagkataon lang na pangit service nila when i experienced it.. im the type na nangaaway talga pero i tried to be patient that time.. it's just so disappointing na ganu pala talga dun.. i ordered egg and bacon and mango smoothie but it took so long to have it prepeared.. i aslo asked for water pero mukhan kinuha pa sa cordillera kaya nakiinom nalang ako sa friend ko who decide to order sa katabing restaurant.. ang tagal din ng bill kay pinuntahan ko pa sa cashier mismo.. sad kse they carry the name CORDILLERA.. sana ayusin nila : (
it's sad to read all of your comments and disappointments with the coffee shop. cordillera coffee is actually one of the best coffee shops i've been to, yun nga lang not in baguio. they have their shop in marikina, i think it's their first, and everything was excellent- from the coffee, to the food and of course, the service. i hope i can visit their shop in sm baguio by the time i get home & if ever you come down here, try visiting their shop in marikina riverbank mall, you'll experience the difference.=)
Hello Fair! Thanks for your comment.
Actually we went back there a second time a few months ago and there was a marked difference with the service. Mas alert yung mga staff. I'm not sure though if their service took a turn for the worse again...
I admire their support for the local coffee growers but hopefully they can also be consistent with their service so that people will truly want to appreciate the place and the coffee.
