The threatened woods in Baguio City
This is the woods that is threatened by destruction because of enterprising, greedy humans wanting to build more and more buildings in the city.
The trees here are only slightly older than I am. I remember back in grade school when the young pine trees were planted. Then year after year, I saw them grow together into what it is now: a beautiful piece of greenery near the city. It is relatively untouched because a wall surrounds it. But now, it is in danger of being converted into another cemented area. Won't the Department of Environment and Natural Resources do something about it? Mr. Atienza, is this going to be another Arroceros Forest Park?
This photo was taken near the UP Baguio entrance. The Convention Center can be seen beyond the trees.

nung nakita ko yung wood furniture/carving industry dyan, nag-worry nga ako talaga eh... if the wood is being replaced...
Mec of Hope This Helps You
Hay naku, Nick!
This is not all -- I was told personally by the man in charge of the Baguio Export processing zone that they will be removing 200+ pine trees to make room for the Moog Expansion into the Camp John Hay area.
Further, there is talk of Ayala coming into CJH and removing more trees for the commercial center they are planning to erect.
Then, there is talk of a huge call center to be built also in CJH which will seat thousands and more trees will disappear to make room for those seats.
Honestly, this is not just a Baguio problem anymore -- it actually is a national concern.
Folks are just either oblivious to the goings on or plain apathetic.
Mec: there really should be a governing body doing the monitoring this. Kung ayaw gawin ng DENR, then tayo-tayo na lang.
Lisa: I'm here to help, kahit sa dissemination of information. Let me know how.
