The weekend gardener

This new place we moved to here in Johnsonville is a source of happiness for me because not only do we have more room to move around, but there is an area near the back of the house where we can have a vegetable garden! So on our first weekend after moving, I proceeded to clear the plot of grass and weeds.

Our landlord recommended planting on the elevated area, as they said this was the fertile area. However, I plan to clear out the lower area as well. The black container beyond is a compost bin.An afternoon later and with the help of Jo-Lo, we have finally cleared the land and created two elevated rows.

That said, I am no professional gardener, nor do I have the patience of conditioning the soil prior to planting. I am hoping the magic and simplicity of veggies growing in my hometown of Baguio will happen here as well. I have to expedite things though, as winter will be coming soon and the veggies need a couple of months to grow and be in harvesting age.
I have actually gotten some seeds already but I will tell that story in my next post... gotta take some photos first.
