This time around I have decided to plant potatoes and capsicum. I bought a small pack of seed potatoes which, at $2.00, is a steal. There were more than a dozen potatoes in there! And then I also bought half a dozen capsicum plants.
It's tempting to plant potatoes that came from the supermarket, especially if they have started to sprout but based on my readings, such varieties are not suited for gardening and may be prone to bacteria.
I found that keeping record of my planting sessions in this blog enables me to keep track of progress in a more interesting way.
I have also planted some in potatoes in a pot and are staying in the sun room. Not surprisingly, these have sprouted faster than their counterpart in the backyard. I'm planning to get more pots and have more plants in the sun room for a more controlled environment.I have also planted a couple of tomatoes, this time not the seeds coming from the supermarket variety but rather from gardening stock so I hope that works as well, and the Wellington wind be gentle in the coming summer months.
