I wonder how many ladies of this generation still know how to knit and crochet? This video just got me thinking of my mother who loved to make things out of yarn. She made lots of nice table covers, doilies, sweaters. I still remember seeing her sitting with other mothers doing their knitting while waiting for me finish my kindergarten classes in my early days. She taught our eldest sister these crafts, though I am not sure if she still remembers how.
This skill can be an asset with this project which aims to help recycle plastic. In place of yarn, use plastic bags to transform into containers, small bags, or anything that can be done through crochet. You have something unique, and it's great for the environment!

Jo-Lo the Builder
Jo-Lo received (and much to my delight!) an Indiana Jones Lego set for his birthday last weekend! Immediately the following day we started building the planes. I was quite surprised that Jo-Lo was able to pick-up on the visual instructions and he helped assemble the planes. Thanks Eric!

Uncle Montague's Tales of Terror
I was just browsing through the books covers in the library when this one caught my eye. The cover art reminded me of Neil Gaiman's The Graveyard Book which I thoroughly enjoyed. And something about the cover art made me want to grab it and start reading. Which I did.
This clever book by Chris Priestly is a collection of short stories as told by Uncle Montague to his nephew. If you have a vivid imagination, this book will make you cringe. I especially like the story about the tree and the blind old lady. Oh, I also remember this other huge tree with the kid climbed and...
But I simply mustn't give away any plot! If you are a fan of the otherworldly and the macabre, this book is for you. Uncle Montague's Tales of Terror
is a delightful read, in a squeamish kind of way.

Mario's head paper craft
Here's another paper craft I tried to work on last weekend. Obviously we're still on Mario madness mode :-).
I thought, though, that this project will be sufficient for a few hours' fiddling, but it looks more engaging than previously imagined.
I was able to complete the had after a couple of hours. Look's quite big and wearable, isn't it?
Nope. A little optical illusion there.
I started working on the rest of the project but there's just too many parts to it. The above progress was last Tuesday (I can only do this for about an hour each night, unfortunately). I have progressed much but I still haven't finished it, and it's already Friday tomorrow. Hmmmm.
