It's more fun in the Philippines, but not in the DoT website

The Philippines' Department of Tourism has launched the new slogan for its marketing campaign to boost tourism.  The catchphrase is "It's more fun in the Philippines" and the twitter tag #itsmorefuninthephilippines is currently trending in the Twitterverse.

The website is still in the works though but it does look promising.  However, with the launch of this campaign I felt curious to know more and the website does not really have a lot of content in it to make for a satisfying visit.

So I decided to drop by the Department of Tourism website instead.

There was no mention of the new campaign... a simple press release would have sufficed.  Plus, the website is too graphics heavy!  We have fast internet access here but the background just came crawling down while I waited for the page to load.  The primary purplish background makes it difficult to read and so you really have to wait for the sand-like graphic image to fully load.  Plus, the flash banner images are not helping any.

I wish the Department of Tourism would have at least spared some thought on adapting some elements of the new campaign into the DoT website.  It would have been a more satisfying experience.  It feels as if the new campaign is totally independent of the Department.  And the webmaster of the website ought to check the loading time of the website.  It's just too slow in loading.
